JUSTINE SWEENEY
AGE: 81 BAYVILLE
Justine Sweeney (Ciulacz), 81, of Bayville passed on peacefully to be with the angels Sunday Dec. 6, 2009 at her home, with her loving family by her side. She was born September 22, 1928 in Garfield, the youngest of eight siblings. Justine lived in Newark for many years. She graduated from Our Lady of the Valley High School, Orange, and worked for St. Michael's Hospital, Newark, before marrying Michael Sweeney on September 19, 1948. They raised their family in Newark before retiring to the shore in 1982. Justine was a loving mother, wife, grandmother and friend. She loved to sew and create needlepoint. She enjoyed her home and had a talent for gardening. She was always proud of her beautiful flowers and grass. Justine also loved to be with family and cook for large family gatherings and she loved and enjoyed her neighbors and friends.
Justine was predeceased by her husband, Michael H. Sweeney; by her son, Andrew Sweeney and granddaughter, Jessica Sweeney. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Rose Ciulacz, Louise Savona, Julia DiNapoli, Alex Ciulacz, Charles Ciulacz, Thomas Cooper and her friend and sister in law, Mary T. Hughes. Surviving her is her loving family, Michael and Lesley Sweeney of Howell, NJ, James and Michelle Sweeney of Plainview, NY, Rosemary and Stanley McHenry of Cary, NC, Peter and Jeanne Sweeney of Brick, NJ and Justine and Eric Sweeney of Bayville, NJ who lived with her. She is also survived by her brother, Ted and Rose Ciulac, Wallington, NJ and her in laws, Jack and Alice Sweeney of Barnegat, NJ, Sally Jameson, Whiting, NJ, Ellen Sweeney of Bloomfield, NJ, Anne and John Sullivan of Virginia. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Samantha and Kyle Griffin, Adam and Cheryl Sweeney, Allison and Collin, Justin and Reese, Annika and Mickey McHenry, Peter Andrew Sweeney, and great grandchildren, Melody and Kimo Sweeney. Also many loving nieces and nephews especially her god daughter, Ellen Sherry and her special niece, Wendy Gassner who traveled from Idaho to be with her when she was sick. She will be greatly missed by all.
Family will receive friends Wednesday 2-4pm & 7-9pm at The Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals O'Connell Chapel 706 Route 9 Bayville, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Thursday 11am at St. Barnabas RC Church, Bayville, NJ. Committal will be Private. Donations may be made to Van Dyke Hospice 99 Route 37 West, Toms River, NJ 08755. Condolences may be sent by visiting www.ryanfuneralhome.com
