Lawrence "Larry" Higgins, 84 of Brick passed away on Wednesday April 20 at his home with his wife by his side. Larry was born in Manhattan and raised in Paramus. He graduated from Holy Trinity High School, Paramus and then enlisted into the United States Marine Corps, serving during the Korean War. Upon his completion of his military service he was employed by Nestle, Freehold as a mechanic for 12 years. Larry then went back to school to become a registered nurse. He then began his nursing career at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune which lasted 20 years. Larry was a member of the Brick VFW and a proud friend of Bill W. for 53 years. Larry was truly a kind and compassionate person who would help anyone at any time. Larry was predeceased by a sister Evelyn Bristol.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years June (nee Baggitt) of Brick; two sons and their spouses John and Laura Higgins of Sebring, FL and Patrick and Roselle Higgins of Valparasio, IN. Larry is also survived by six grandchildren Scott, Steven, Vincent, Noah, Malia and Keliee; four sisters Marie Posey (Brick, NJ), Dorothy Koller (Toms River, NJ), Rita Holtzbaur (Glenrock, NJ) and Joan Gawrylowicz (South River, NJ); many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation Friday April 22 from 4-7 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals 2643 Old Bridge Road Manasquan, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9 am at St. Martha Church, Point Pleasant, NJ. Interment will be at a later date at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold.
