Madeline Morton Draper

AGE: 91 • Belford

Madeline Morton Draper, 91, of Belford passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law. She was born in Spring Lake and had lived in Neptune before moving here in 2012. Madeline was a sales associate at Sears & Roebuck Company in Ocean Township for over 40 years retiring in 2000. She was an avid Mets fan, a member of the West Belmar United Methodist Church and a graduate of Neptune High School Class of 1943. Madeline was a wonderful mother, a much loved grandmother and dear friend to many. Madeline was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Elizabeth Schunk; her husband and the love of her life, Wilbur C. Morton; a brother, Robert Schunk; and her sisters, Dorothy Van Brunt, Florence Cardner and Edna Bennett.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Russell Gerdon of Belford; two grandchildren, Chris Gerdon and his wife, Krista of Miami, FL and Ryan Gerdon and his wife, Pamela of Forest City, NC; four great grandchildren, Darius, Madison, Cydney and Spencer; her nieces, Marion Seaman of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Madelyn Haden of Jackson; her nephews, Paul Van Brunt and his wife, Judith of York, PA and Arnold Bennett and his wife, Alice of Jackson; and her dear friends, Nancy Helwig of Belford, Helen Carmichael of Round Rock, TX, Ruth Trocchia of Jacksonville, FL and Cathie Morrisy of Allenhurst.

Visitation will be held at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, February 22, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 11:00 AM funeral service at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, with Rev. Sandy Campanell officiating.
