Marie Cronin-Hull Obituary

Marie Cronin-Hull

Brick - Marie Cronin-Hull, 80, of Brick passed away on June 17, 2021 at home surrounded by family and friends. A cancer survivor, she succumbed to ALS after a valiant struggle. She was born in Camden and was a resident of Brick for almost sixty years. Marie graduated from Camden Catholic High School and received her Bachelor of Arts in English and Education from Glassboro State College (now Rowan University). In 1963, she began a teaching career in Brick Township that spanned thirty-nine years in the Upper Elementary School, Lake Riviera Middle School and Brick Memorial High School.

Marie was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of the Church of the Sacred Heart in Bay Head. An avid sports woman, she enjoyed water sports, snow skiing, and tennis. In later years she was an award-winning golfer who participated in many tournaments and won prizes especially for long distance shots. In addition, she was a consummate poker player who belonged to two poker clubs.

Marie was a kind and caring person who gave generously of her time and talents to others. She opened her home to aging relatives and later to foreign exchange students with whom she maintained lifelong friendships.

Marie lived a rich and full life. She was the devoted wife of Bob (Robert) Hull. Her happiest days were shared with him during their 39 years of marriage. She loved travel, watching tennis and golf, viewing the sailboats and waterfowl from her home on the Metedeconk River, celebrating her Irish/Polish heritage, spending time at her condo in Florida, dining out, playing with computer gadgets and caring for animals, often adopting dogs overlooked because of age or disability.

Marie was predeceased by her parents Robert Emmet Cronin and Mary Koska Cronin, her husband, Bob Hull, and two brothers, Robert Neil Cronin and Timothy Cronin. She is survived by her sister Patricia Van Gilder, two sisters-in-law, cousins, fourteen nieces and nephews, many friends and two canine companions Missy and Mickey whom she treasured.

The family would like to thank the nurses and caregivers who cared for Marie in her final months and the many friends who came to visit.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on June 26, 2021 at 1pm at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Bay Head. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those who wish to remember Marie consider donations to the Joan Dancy & PALS Foundation, http://joandancyandpals.org/how-to-help/ or another charity of their choice.

She was my favorite teacher. Miss Cronin truly made an 8th grader feel confident and cared for. Her and Mr. Hull made a great team. Wish we didn’t loose contact.
Rest In Peace.

Sorry to learn of her passing. Both Marie Cronin-Hull and her husband were both my teachers. A tough, but well respected teacher who did go the extra mile with her students.

I was not aware of Marie´s passing until tonight. I so sad that I was not there today.. I played poker with Marie and Bob, went down to their condo, had dinner with them, visited them in rehab. Actually tried to see her a few weeks ago, couldn´t get into rehab....needed appointment. I was at Bob´s memorial....I´m glad that at least we talked on phone when she was in brick hospital, we cried together.

I as well as my classmates am saddened to hear of Marie's passing. I was fortunate enough to be one of 10 students who went on a hiking trip to Mt. Monadnock, with Miss. Cronin and Mr. Hull. Miss. Cronin, at that time taught so much more than curriculum, sharing pearls of wisdom for impressionable eighth grade girls. A tough teacher , always pushing her students to be the best they could be. Rest in peace dear lady, reunited with your wonderful husband. You left your mark on so many children. A legacy to be proud of.

Teacher...Friend...I am blessed to have known Marie in both capacities, a shining example in each. Her confidence and immense knowledge belied her years as a novice teacher; a natural from the outset. Marie made learning challenging yet enjoyable.
I cherish the fond memories we shared in our almost 60 years of friendship...tennis, sailing lessons, skiing, lobster feasts, visits West to my husband and I...wish there had been golfing opportunities together; I know she would have offered some great pointers. Marie was more a "big sister" to me. The physical miles between us didn't matter, I felt she would always be there...vibrant and spirited.
She is missed.
Thank you, Marie, for our valued friendship.
God's Blessings,
Nancy (Morone) Wilson
Sincerest condolences to her family and dear friends.

We butted heads a lot when I was in her class. However I remember her to this day and as a almost 46 year old mother I realize she was really an amazing teacher. I’m sad to learn of her passing. Prayers for her family. She was an amazing teacher ! RIP

Mr. and Mrs. Hull were my elementary school teachers. I remember how happy us kids got when they became engaged. They were both wonderful and sweet. Thank you for the memories. ❤
