Matthew Donovan Obituary
AGE: 57 • Wall, formerly of Manasquan
Matthew "Matty" Donovan, Sr, 57 of Wall formerly of Manasquan passed away on March 31 at his home. Matty was born in Jersey City and had lived in Manasquan and then Wall for the past 22 years. Matty was a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 825 for over 25 years. He enjoyed politics and belonged to the Monmouth County Democratic Party. Matty was known for his joyous sense of humor and his ability to make people laugh. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family especially his children and granddaughter. Matty ran for NJ State Assembly in 1995 and 1997.
Matty was predeceased by his sister Kathleen Donovan; brothers John, Walter and Joseph; and a niece Molly. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Doriana (nee Lueddeke) Donovan of Wall; his loving daughters Jorden Donovan-Petruzel and husband Michael, Rachel Donovan, his dear sons James and Matthew, Jr. and his cherished granddaughter Hannah. Matty is also survived by his brothers William and Edward Donovan; sisters Maureen Capuzzi and Collen Rossoniello and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Tuesday, April 3 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan. A Mass of Christian 9:30 am Wednesday April 4 at St. Denis Church, Manasquan. Interment will follow at St. Catharine's Cemetery, Sea Girt. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made Matthew M. Donovan, Jr. for an education fund C/O Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan, NJ 08736. I just found out and miss him already. ......He was always there for me. For those that know me I had a rough childhood and Matt was always there to pick up the pieces. I loved him. He has a beautiful wife and 4 great children. He talked about them all the time. He was a proud dad. A friendship that spans 41 years. He was my High School sweetheart. I know he is happy now and with his mom and dad. I got a text from him 3 weeks ago that just said "Linda Sue I love you!" I did not respond and regret that now. Matthew Donovan I love you! I always enjoyed talking with matty and i have been left with many great memory's of him. Not only in my head but in my heart as well.. Dearest Dori, Jorden, Rachel, Jim and Matt, and Donovan Sibs, I should not be writing this! Matty was in our house years before Dori-time. I had such a crush on him!
