Michael B. Mangini, of Freehold died August 31, 2016 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune Township. Born in Manhattan in August 1958, Michael grew up in Staten Island, New York, graduating from Curtis High School and St. John's University. He was a graduate of Fordham University School of Law (1987), and also held a Master's Degree in Philosophy from Southern Evangelical Seminary.

Michael served in the United States Army Judge Advocate General Corps and the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office. Since 1998, he operated his own private legal practice helping clients with estate and business succession planning. During the early 1990's, Michael served his country as a Captain in the JAG Corps of the U.S. Army in Garlstedt, Germany with the 1st Armored Div Fwd, and in Operation Desert Storm with the 1st Infantry Div. Michael lived a full and rich life. He was passionate about Susan, the love of his life, his Savior Jesus Christ, theology, and philosophy. He was a scholar and a gentleman, a loyal friend, and to know him was to love him. He was generous with his time, money, talents, sharing his enthusiasm for life, his sense of humor, loving his neighbor and imparting the Truth of the forgiveness in Jesus Christ. His perspective was always eternal, and he lived and relied fully in the joyful knowledge of forgiveness of sin through the sinless life, sacrificial death, and victorious resurrection of Jesus Christ and the promise of eternal life with Him. Michael is now enjoying the fulfillment of that promise.

My heart is saddened to see the news of Michael's death - so young he was!
A dozen or so years ago, he sat down with 4-H'er Shaylynn Devin and myself to film his veteran oral history. It's been shared with the Library of Congress Veterans History Project, who lists him here:

Dear Susan,

Nancy & I were so sorry to hear about Mike, we will remember him well for his hospitality and kindness to the least of us.

It was like a reunion yesterday at the memorial service. What a gathering it was!

Another friend of ours Michael Perri was very saddened to hear about Mike as he recalls knowing Mike way back in grammar school from Staten Island.

Special thanks for his ongoing outreach lunch sessions with Steve and Danny - they too were very saddened to hear about Mike.

He will be missed by many and our prayers will be ongoing for you through this difficult time.

I really had only one opportunity to converse with Mike - it was at a social gathering on Sunday August 29, only a few days before his untimely passing away. He was a gentleman and a scholar; he will be missed!
