I met Naomi at the Albert Brothers cabin in the late 1960s, when I first started going there and joining in on the jam sessions every Saturday night. She was always there to listen to the music. She knew my mother was sick and she always asked about her--which meant a lot to me. Time went by, and I got a call from her daughter, saying Naomi had passed away. She said Naomi would like me to play my song, "Come on Down to Waretown," at her funeral. I was happy to oblige. She was a dear, sweet woman. And I will remember her forever.

We met Naomi at the Albert Music Hall in 2007 when she was featured in our book, People of the Pines. During the interview she talked about the early days of the Piney music at the "Home Place" and about how she'd "rather dance than eat!". She was such a sweet lady and we loved her spunk and that twinkle in her eye. She'll be missed at the Music Hall for sure, but we'd like to think that she's in heaven dancing to the music of the Pineconers. Godspeed, Naomi.
