Mr. Bruno was by far one of my favorite teachers. I'll never forget how during a math class he taught us the equation for determining the height of something by dropping something from the peak and counting the seconds until the object hit the bottom. Inserting the number of seconds into the equation gave you the height.
A few days later we went to Shea Stadium to see the Mets with nose bleed tickets. While in the bus on our way home I proudly announced I determined the height of stadium by applying the equation he taught us a few days earlier. I yelled the height in feet to the whole bus. He said, "That's great George I'm proud of you." A few seconds later he turned around and said, "By the way, what did you drop to count the seconds?". I couldn't think of any other answer quick enough and had to tell him the truth, "I spit!". Words cannot destine the look of disgust that came across his face! I will never forget it.
It was great having you as my 8th grade teacher and thank you for your service to our country!
