Patricia "Patty" Atheras, R.N. C.D. of Brick, formerly of Wall Township, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2012. Born in Wilkes Barre, PA Patty was raised in her family's business, O'Donnell's Drug Store, established in 1892. She graduated from St. Mary High School in 1955 and obtained her diploma of nursing at Pittston Hospital School of Nursing in 1958. Her nursing career began at Muhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield, then Point Pleasant Hospital, Point Pleasant, NJ. She furthered her degree and became a R.N.C.D. and then began to work at several chemical dependency treatment centers including Fair Oaks South in Lakehurst and Monmouth Chemical Depending Treatment Center, Long Branch, NJ. Before retiring Patty was the EAP "Employees Assistant Program" coordinator for Monmouth Medical Center. Patty was also the organizer and founder of NCW "Nurses Concerned for Nurses" Jersey Shore Chapter, the first nurse support group for chemical dependency in NJ and a member of Women of Irish Heritage.

She is survived by her husband, Allen Atheras of Brick NJ; daughter and son-in-law, Stacey Atheras O'Neill and Mick O'Neill of New York, NY; her sons, Rick Atheras of West Palm Beach, FL and Dr. Allen Atheras and his wife Nancy of Brick, NJ; sister, Marykay O'Donnell of Bethlehem, PA; brother, Tim O'Donnell of East Stroudsburg, PA; cousin, Marie Sweeney of Rumson, NJ and grandchildren, Aris, Brian, Dan, Drew, Emily, Nicholas and Whitney.

Relatives and friends are invited to call Wednesday, August 29 from 1-3 and 7-9 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 30 at 9:00am at St. Dominicks, rte. 88, Brick, NJ. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 332 N. Lauderdale, Memphis, TN 38105.
