Paul Slattery Obituary

Paul J. Slattery

AGE: 66 • Brick

Paul J. Slattery, 66, of Brick, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 28, 2015 at home surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Boston, MA to the late Francis and Estelle Slattery, he was a resident of Brick for the past 41 years. Mr. Slattery graduated from Rutgers School of Pharmacy and went on to work as a Pharmacist with CVS Pharmacy in Shrewsbury for 38 years. He retired in 2011 as a well-respected member of the healthcare community. He will be remembered by his family and friends as a loving, kind and gentle man with a wonderful sense of humor. Paul and his beloved wife Kathleen were married for 43 years and raised two daughters who brought him great pride. He and Kathleen owned and operated Little People's Preschool Center in Howell for 21 years. Paul was a strong supporter of his wife's dream to open her own school and together they worked as a team to make this come true. Paul was an avid Mets fan and loved teaching his grandson, Sam, the joy of his life, the game of baseball. He enjoyed spending time landscaping his yard and tending to his pool. He and his family loved Caribbean cruising, as well as summer vacations at Midway Beach.

Surviving are his wife, Kathleen Kelshaw Slattery, his loving daughters, Patricia Slattery Ciampaglia and her husband Thomas and Maribeth Slattery, and his cherished grandson, Samuel Thomas Ciampaglia. He also leaves his siblings, Jean Carrigan, John Slattery and his wife Kathleen and Thomas Slattery, all of MA. He is also survived by his loving mother-in-law Sara Kelshaw of Manchester, NJ and a large extended family. Paul was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Moloney and Ann Daniels.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 2, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 10:00 AM at The Church of Epiphany, Brick. My condolences to the Slattery family.

I know this comes way too late as I was not aware of Paul's passing and so saddedned by his loss. I had the honor of working with Paul at our Shrewsbury CVS for several years. In my humblest opinion, he is one of the finest human beings I have ever met. Paul was a great mentor and I learned so much from him, not only when it came to pharmacy but also my personal life. It is also because of him, I learned good investment strategies. I will always cherish the days I worked with him. He always managed to bring a smile to not only my face bit the staff as well.

May the Slattery family always stay blessed. I know Paul continually looks down on all and gives us that beautiful smile that I will always remember.

Dear family,
I only knew Mr. Slattery from his position as pharmacist at the CVS in Shrewsbury. He was efficient, courteous snd pleasant and after he retired from there it took many months before the place ran smoothly. He was a kind and good man. I am sorry for your loss.
