Peter Clemente, 91, of Ocean Township, died Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.

He was born in Valle San Giovanni, Abbruzze, Italy. He came to the US in 1950 living in Philadelphia, Newark and Passaic before moving to Ocean 52 years ago.

Peter was a history teacher at Ocean Township High School since its opening in 1965 retiring in 1993. He also substituted for many years following his retirement.

He was a communicant of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in West End, Long Branch. He was a member of the Jersey Aero Club and the Italian American Association of the Township of Ocean and an accomplished oil artist. He was agraduate of Seton Hall University in South Orange.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 66 years, Ida in April 12, 2016; his parents, Canuto and Nicolina Clemente.

Surviving are his 4 daughters, Joan Pharo, Patricia Green, Bernadette Kozlowski and Janet Adams; sister, Eleanor Sargent; 7 grandchildren, Jason, Anthony, Dominic, Sarah Anne, Angela Anne, Richie and Mikey and 5 great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 2-4 & 7-9 pm Sunday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, Ocean Township. Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:30 am Monday at St. Michael's Church, West End, Long Branch. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Neptune.
