Reuben Truitt Obituary
AGE: 98 • Zarephath
Reuben A. Truitt, 98, died Sunday, March 4, 2012, at Somerset Medical Center, Somerville. Born October 15, 1913, at the campus of Elon College, Alamance County, NC, he was the son of Reuben A. and Cora Ann Sharp Truitt. He first came to Zarephath in 1930, then resided in San Francisco and Pacifica, CA, then Westminster, CO, before moving back to Zarephath in 1977. Mr. Truitt was an history and mathematics teacher for Pillar of Fire Schools for 40 years. He was known for his gymnastic and scholastic abilities, as well as his deep Christian faith. He was well known and loved in the Zarephath community.
Mr. Truitt was predeceased by his wife, Irel Shafer Truitt, who died December 5, 2009; his brothers, Carlyle S. and John M. Truitt; and his sisters, Virginia Truitt and Anna Lee Friedman. He is survived by his brothers, Randolph S. Truitt of Orange Park, FL, George W. Truitt of Somerville, NC, and his sisters, Arlene R. Brown of Otego, NY, and Louise Ramsey of Atoko, TN.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, March 8, at Hagan - Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Avenue, Bound Brook. Interment will be at Pillar of Fire Cemetery, Zarephath. Friends will be received at the funeral home from noon until the time of the funeral on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to Pillar of Fire Missions, 10 Chapel Dr., Zarephath, NJ 08890.

I met Reuben Truitt and his wife Irel, in London England in 1979. at the Pillar of Fire Church in Hendon.. They were closer than parents to me and encouraged me to come to the United States. I miss them terribly.. A truly wonderful Christian couple. I owe them my life for the last 45 years that I have lived in the United States. They were truly devoted to their church and to the needs of others before themselves.

Praise the Lord for the consistent, consecrated, courageous and committed life and witness of Brother Reuben Truitt of Zarephath, who has now been promoted to glory. He and his late wife, Sister Irel Truitt, have been highly significant evangelical saints whose memory is treasured by all who knew them. They are held in the highest esteem, examples of true followers of Jesus Christ, respected and appreciated by people of all ages. Thank you also to all who have helped tend to Brother Truitt during the latter part of his life when he experienced some physical limitations. Your efforts are appreciated.
