Reynaldo "Rey" Antonio Mustafa, 66, of Manchester, NJ died peacefully on Wednesday, June 29th, 2016 at Community Medical Center in Toms River, N.J. surrounded by his loving family. At Rey's request he wanted to be cremated which has been coordinated by CHIACCHIO SOUTHVIEW FUNERAL HOME in Trenton, N.J.
Rey was born in Santiago, Dominican Republic on September 8th, 1949 to Abraham and Felicita. He came to New York when he was 7 years old. He grew up in Manhattan. He was a graduate of Cardinal Hayes High School located in Bronx, N.Y.. He attended the City College of New York in Manhattan, N.Y.
In 1974, he enlisted with the United States Air Force and served our country as a meteorologist throughout the United States and Europe until 1983. During this time, he received several commendations for his exemplary performance and leadership skills. In October of 1974, he married Jacqueline Mustafa (Fernandez) and they had 2 beautiful daughters, Thansee and Kinetha. Rey and his family traveled throughout the U.S. and Europe during his career with the Air Force. In 1984, he began a career with the United States Post Office and was a Senior Computer Technician in Eatontown, NJ. He retired in 2013 to be able to enjoy all his hobbies like craftwork, going to see N.Y. Giants and Yankees games, dancing, and listening to his Salsa and Merengue music, and watching movies.
He truly enjoyed spending time with all his family & friends, however, his grandchildren were the apples of his eyes. He was truly a generous, warm-hearted, loving son, father, brother, and friend. He always shared his vast knowledge and wisdom with all of us. We can't forget he always could make you laugh with one of his sarcastic jokes and we were all called "Buster" regardless of your gender.
He is pre-deceased by his father, Abraham Mustafa, his grandmother, Rosa Angelica Tavarez, and his uncles, Jaime Tavarez and Jaime Mustafa.
Rey is survived by his mother, Felicita Padron; ex-wife, Jacqueline Mustafa; daughters, Thansee Mustafa-Diaz, Kinetha Mustafa-Delgado and her husband, Caonabo; sisters, Magda Muka and her husband, James, Priscilla Padron, Mayra Mustafa, Ingrid Mustafa, Brasilia Mustafa; brothers, Carin Mustafa, Jose-Luis Mustafa, Orlando Mustafa, Abraham Mustafa and four grandchildren, Jaden Diaz, Akeo Diaz, Truden Delgado, and Braylan Delgado and so many other family members and loving friends.
Memorial Service will be held July 15, 2016, 10:00am at Christ Lutheran Church located at 40 Schoolhouse Rd, Whiting, NJ 08759. Arrangements under the auspices of David C. Chiacchio and his dedicated staff of the Chiacchio Southview Funeral Home.
