I was a student of Bob's in 1969-1970 period when I was a teenager and we were both living in northern New Jersey. I went to his place numerous times for lessons and got to know him well. I especially remember an exchange we had about Eric Clapton's playing.
I have not seen him in decades and recently found the notebook that he used to record song chords and melodies by hand. This led me to discover that he had passed away. He was a wonderful musician and teacher and set me on a path of love for the guitar and jazz music that I still have today. Thank you, Bob for being such a great teacher.

It saddens me to learn of passing of this unsung giant of a musician.
I feel blessed that he was my teacher.
One of his famed students, Al Di Meola was kind enough to introduce me to Bob when Al could no longer teach me due to being signed to "Return to Forever.
That you Bob for taking me on.
It is a blessing I will never forget.
Rest in peace, dear soul.

Bob, you were one of my favorite fellow musicians that I enjoyed playing gigs with. We are sad to hear of your passing. My wife and I danced to your music at the shore and had a great time listening and talking to you. Rest in Peace, my brother.

I am heartbroken to read of his passing.
He always had such a great smile and good advice.
His music made everyone happy.
Always in my heart Bob.

Such a great person and friend.
We shared the same birthday & Bob got a kick from calling me at midnight or later... When he didn’t call I had a bad feeling.
Bob, Rest In Peace & I’ll see you again in heaven.

Rest in Peace, Bobby Lane. Your performances gave so much pleasure for so many years to so many. A tough act to follow.

So, so many wonderful memories of Bobby, spent every weekend at the Quality Inn with my significant other, dancing to his wonderful voice and music. Also the Sundays spent at his pool, with great food, friends and him at the mic entertaining us. RIP my dear fried, we have been left with wonderful memories.

I am sorry to see this sad news. I heard Bobby perform at several events and had him entertain us for my husband's 40th birthday party. We all loved him. May they be singing together in heaven now. Thanks for the memories.
