Robert Corbo Obituary
Robert A. Corbo, 87, life time resident of Norwalk, beloved husband of Marie DeMichelis Corbo passed away on April 29th, 2014.
Born June 23rd, 1926, he was the son of Grace Mezzo Anderson and stepson of Arvid J. Anderson.
Bob graduated with the Norwalk High Class of 1944 and was a World War II veteran of the United States Army Air Corps. He served from 1945 to 1946 and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant. Bob then graduated from the University of Connecticut, earning Bachelor's, Master's, and a 6th Year Certificate in Business Education. He taught 4 years in Colchester, CT, at Bacon Academy, 6 years at Middlesex Junior High in Darien, and 23 years in Greenwich as a teacher and as an administrator. Upon retiring from the Greenwich System in 1985, Bob and his wife traveled extensively for 1 year. He ended his educational career teaching at the Butler Business School for 13 years. He then served as the first taxing district commissioner for 18 years. Bob was honored by the Norwalk Old Timers Sports Committee, serving as president and other administrative positions. His life time contribution to local sports included 25 years with the Calvin Murphy Basketball League. He also served as player agent for the Norwalk Senior Babe Ruth League.
Bob will always be remembered by his loving family for his patience and integrity. He often encountered former students who he had made a difference in their lives.
Bob is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marie, four sons; Randy and his wife Maria of Terryville, CT, Reed of Norwalk, CT, Rick and his wife Alison of Stamford, CT, and Robert and his wife Maria of Bridgeport, CT; a sister, Gloria Corbo Stone of Vista, NY. Bob's pride and joy are his five grandsons, Adrian, Ricky, Bobby, Jason and Nicky, and his granddaughter Jennifer and step grandchildren Shanice and Clemente.
In addition to his parents Bob was predeceased by his brothers Leroy and Thomas Corbo.
Friends may gather for a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, May 2nd, at 10:00 AM in St. Philip Church, 1 Fr. Conlon Place, Norwalk. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery, 223 Richards Avenue, Norwalk, CT.
A wake will be held TONIGHT from 4PM to 8PM, at the Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk.

I knew Mr. Corbo from my time at Central Junior High School in Greenwich in the 70's. As a student, he was influential in my life. He was always there for me. Tough, yet caring. A very good man. My condolences to you; I am sure he will be missed.
