Robin Bird Obituary

ROBIN TERESA BIRD
BRICK
On Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, the world gained an angel. Robin Bird lost her battle to lung cancer. Robin was an amazing woman who dedicated her life to her family and to saving the lives of others. She started out as a medical assistant and through hard work became an EMT and finally a Paramedic. She never gave up on her goals and achieved everything she set out to do. She was employed by Lakewood First Aid and a very active volunteer for various squads in the Jersey Shore area. She was born in Newark, New Jersey 1965 and died in Brick, New Jersey 2010.
She died at home surrounded by her husband, Jeff; her four children, Anthony, Tiffany, John, and Victoria, as well as many other family members. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother. She will be missed by many for her dedication, her efforts, her time and simply, her love.
The viewings will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27 at Colonial Funeral Home, 1045 Sally Ike Road,Brick. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28 at St. Mary's by the Sea, Point Pleasant, and there will be a brief reception afterwards at Manasquan Firehouse in Manasquan. Instead of flowers being sent, we ask that donations be made towards John and Victoria's college education.

Being her husband,Jeff, I have witnessed the life of a truly amazing woman. I have seen her relentlessly push herself to the next level in her career over the past 15 years, but yet family and friends were always first on her list. She was simply a first responder to anyone who needed her help, both at home and at her job. I would like to take this time to thank everyone who paid their respects at the funeral home and also those who attended the funeral. Even being her husband, I had no idea of the amount of lives she has touched over the years. She was simply an angel here on earth and now sits with the other angels in Heaven with God. Thank you again for all your cards and good wishes to her family. We will try to be strong and move forward, but always remembering the spirit of Robin in our hearts.

Robin had the support of a terriffic husband and her unwavering friendship with Patti C. and her sisters. She always talked about how Tiffany gave up her job and school, and with Tori and John, stabilized the family's school schedule, meals and life, so Jeff and her support team could take Robin to treatments. Anthony was the father to her only grandchild and she was so proud of what a wonderful dad and provider he was. There are few young adults that would give up so much to care for family. The effort Robin gave to becoming a NREMT-Paramedic was incredible. As a student, she challenged every task with a "why and how" that made everyone around her excited about the profession. She excelled as a EMT and community leader in the First Aid. Providing the coordination and support for the Haunted Houses at Halloween and the Holiday Party with Santa, hoping every child would get the opportunity to enjoy the holidays. She will be missed by so many, but I am so blessed to call her friend. Thank you to her family for sharing her brief life with me.
