Ruth S. Upton

AGE: 95 • Red Bank

Ruth S. Upton, 95, of Red Bank passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, Nov. 11, 2013. She was born in New York City but lived most of her life in N.J. Ruth was a past parishioner, lector, and frequent volunteer at St. Philomena's R.C. Church in Livingston, NJ and St Peter's R.C. Church in Point Pleasant, NJ. After moving to Red Bank in 2000, she continued her volunteer work at the Atrium at Navesink Harbor. For many years, she taught first grade at Aquinas Academy in Livingston.

Ruth is predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, Francis in 2002 and her siblings, Edward, Theresa and Marion. She is survived by her loving children, Jane Sullivan and her husband Michael of Middletown and Thomas Upton and his wife Linda of Chester, NJ. Ruth is the dear grandmother of Jennifer, William, Daniel, Elizabeth, Kate, Matthew and Gregory. She is also survived by 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place at John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank, NJ 07701 on Wednesday, November 13th from 2 - 4 & 7-9 PM with a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, 10 AM at St. James R.C. Church, Red Bank. Interment will follow at St. Catherine's Cem. in Sea Girt. Donations can be made in Ruth's memory to the charity of choice. Please visit Ruth's Memorial website at www.johnedayfuneralhome.com
