Scott Michael Heilman, Jr.

AGE: 23 • Toms River

Scott Michael Heilman Jr., Second Lieutenant USMC, age 23, of Toms River, NJ left this life to be with the lord on Sunday, July 24, 2011. Scott was born and raised in Toms River, graduating from Toms River High School North in 2006. He attended the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY. He graduated in 2010 at which time he took his commission in the U.S. Marine Corps as a 2nd Lieutenant. He completed The Basic School in Quantico, VA in June 2011. Following his dream of becoming a Marine Aviator, and serve his country he had just begun Marine flight in Pensacola, FL. From a young age, he enjoyed swimming, setting records in Ocean County at TR North and in college level and had competed nationally. For years he was an ocean lifeguard with Long Beach Township Beach Patrol.

Scott was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, David Earl Heilman in 1989. Surviving are his parents, Scott and Lambia of Toms River; sister, Madeline of the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD; his paternal grandmother, Esther Heilman of Medford; his maternal grandparents, Antonios and Polixeni Marousis of Brick as well as his many cousins, uncles, aunts and friends.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 2, from 5-8 pm at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Road, Toms River and St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, 2200 Church Road, Toms River Wednesday, Aug. 3rd from 9:30am to 10am. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered from St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church on Wednesday, August 3rd at 10am. Burial will follow in Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Barbara Athletic Center, 2200 Church Road, Toms River, NJ 08753. www.silvertonmemorial.com
