I grew up down the street from the Gilroy's and was reacquainted with Tom in 1987. Always smiling! My regrets and warmest regards to The Gilroy Family.

Our sons went to MonDon (when it was St. Joseph High School) with many of the names who have written condolences here. Tommy is now in heaven with our Raymond; the rest of the Helm household, Steven, Maureen & Eileen, wish the blessing of peace for Tracy & their sons. We treasure those who have crossed our path & for their presence, we will never be the same. Much love.

TO THE GILROY BOYS, AUSTIN, GAVIN AND EIAN.... REMEMBER THESE WORDS I KNOW YOUR DAD WOULD SAY THESE EXACT THINGS TO ALL OF YOU....

I LOVED YOU ENOUGH.....Someday when you children are old enough to understand the logic that motivates a parent, I would tell you:
I loved you enough to ask where you were going, with whom, & what time you would come home
I loved you enough to insist that you save your money to buy a bike for yourself even though we could afford to buy one for you
I loved you enough to be silent & let you discover that your new best friend was a creep
I loved you enough to make you take a Milkey Way back to the drugstore ( with a bite out os it )& tell the clerk " I stole this yesterday & want to pay for it"
I loved you enough to stand over you for 2 hours while you cleaned your room, a job that would have taken me 15 minutes
I loved you enough to let you see anger, disappointment & tears in my eyes. Children must learn that their parents aren't perfect
I loved you enough to let you assume the responsibility for your actions even when the penalties were harsh they almost broke my heart
But most of all. I loved you enough to say NO when I knew you would hate me for it. Those were the most difficult battles of all. I'm glad I won them, because in the end you won, too

Dear Tracey, Austin, Gavin and Ian, I'm so sorry for your loss. Your dad was a great man who warmed every person with whom he made contact with at Lourdes. Despite his suffering, he would always manage a slight smile and never forgot to say thank you. He frequently boasted of each one of you ; likewise he shared some of your funny stories. It is my pleasure to care for your dad and I considered myself blessed to have known each one of you. When you feel lonely or in despair, picture Jesus in the Footprints Prayer where he promises to carry us through. Love Kathy Shiveler Rn CC1 OLOL

Dear Tracey, Austin, Gavin and Eian I am so sorry for your loss. Your dad was a great man and an inspiration to all of the nurses at Lourdes. Even at his lowest times, he still managed to smile and say thanks. Personally, I thank the Lord for the opportunity to know your dad and each one of you. All my love Kathy and fellow nurses at Lourdes CC1

Tom - you will be dearly missed down at the fields! I will always remember you telling me all the time to kick Gavin's butt around if he got out of hand or lazy while playing baseball! Don't you worry I will continue on doing that and maybe I will even throw in Eian into that mix. I thank God for allowing me to be your friend as well as your family in my life. May God bless you and your family!
