THOMAS A. MOUNT
AGE: 56 POINT PLEASANT
Thomas A. Mount, 56, of Point Pleasant, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on October 28, 2010. Born in Kearny, Tom grew up in Lake Hiawatha before moving to Point Pleasant 27 years ago. Tom was a man of courage and integrity, and continued to find joy in each day despite a two year battle with brain cancer. Tom's greatest joy was spending time with his family. He could often be found on the sidelines of a soccer field or in the stands at the Point Boro football games. A life long soccer fan, Tom played for 4 years at Quinnipiac University, volunteered for many years with the Point Pleasant Recreation Soccer Association, and for the last two years has been an assistant coach for the Barracuda Girls U8-U10 travel soccer team.
A devoted husband and father, Tom is survived by his loving wife, Terri and four children, Eric and Mikayla Mount, both at home, 2 LT Travis V. Mount, Ft. Bliss, TX, and his daughter and son-in-law, Kristyn and John Poreba, Falls Church, VA. Tom was also blessed last year with the birth of his first grandchild, Luke Timothy Poreba. Tom is also survived by his mother and her husband, Ann and William O'Dea, of Point Pleasant, and his father Andrew T. Mount, East Stroudsburg, PA. The oldest of five siblings, Tom leaves behind three brothers, Gene and Karen Mount, Montville, Brian Mount, Toms River, Danny and Beth Mount, Sailorsburg, PA and one sister Kathy and Gene Kuber, Lake Hiawatha. Tom is also survived by his mother-in-law Dorothy McIntosh and Ben Correll, Brick; brother-in-law Marc and Danielle McIntosh, Brick, Jeffrey McIntosh, Huber Heights, OH and many loving nieces and nephews.
Relative and friends are invited to call from 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Sunday, October 31st, at O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at Saint Peters Roman Catholic Church, Forman Avenue, Point Pleasant Beach on Monday, November 1st 11am. Internment to follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to an education fund to be established for Tom's children, c/o O'Brien Funeral Home. I will remember Tom always as a childhood friend and classmate. His infectious smile and kind heart was his best asset. I can still remember riding bikes all over the neighborhood of Lake Hiawatha in the summer months with our siblings. I am sure he will be remembered by everyone who's life he touched and I hope that his legacy will be a comfort to his many family and friends. Robin Mintz-Tolkach ( NJ/ Nevada)
