Dear Charlotte and family:
Judy and I send our deepest condolences to you and your families.
Wayne and Charlotte have been caring and loving friends for many years. Wayne and Charlotte guided Judy, our young sons and me during our first years living in New Jersey.
I had the great honor and fortune to have been one of the young English teachers in Wayne's English Department when Bridgewater-Raritan High School East opened in 1966. As our Department Chairman, Wayne guided and mentored us until his retirement in 1988. Wayne taught me and other teachers in the department most everything about teaching, learning, compassion and integrity, not only valuable to us in the classroom, but also in our lives. Will will all sorely miss Wayne, but his friendship, teaching and his presence with be with us forever. We send our love to Charlotte and the McAfee family.

Dear Charlotte and the McAfee family: Shirley and extend or heartfelt sympathy to you and your family.Wayne enriched us personally as well as the legions of students who were fortunate to have him as their mentor. Wayne was a man of impeccable integrity and superb intelligence who enriched the lives of all who were privileged to know him. The community is a better place because Wayne lived amongst us. Charlotte, during this difficult time take solace in knowing how many people share in your loss. Rest in Peace my dear friend, God has just gained a true renaissance man.

I'm so very sorry for your loss, you will be in my thoughts, and prayers. I was a custodian at Bridgewater/ Raritan High School from 1983- 2009 and knew Wayne very well, we talked often after moving from nights to day shift, he told me he missed a friend who called him Doc, so I asked him if I could call him that and he told me he would like that very much. He's a very smart man and I enjoyed talking to about his experiences, and what he was interested in.

While missing the strength, grace and love of a good friend, I will remember Wayne's humor; insight; disposition; skill with words; ability to discuss with civility literature, music, politics, religion, family and any subject; appreciation for silence; faith to see each day as a gift and willingness to try to make the world better.
