William J. Donahue

AGE: 89 • Spring Lake

William J. Donahue, 89, of Spring Lake, N.J., passed away on Friday, September 20, 2013, at Sunrise Assisted Living, Wall. Mr. Donahue was born and raised in Newark, and had lived in Spring Lake for many years. He was a graduate of St. Benedict's Prep and Seton Hall University. He was retired, after a long career as a Manager with the N.J. Department of Personnel, in Trenton. He was an avid golfer and boater, and enjoyed living at the Shore with his late wife, Mary.

In addition to his wife of 60 years, Mary (nee Hebring), in 2009, Mr. Donahue was predeceased by his parents, William J. and Agnes (nee Masterson), and his brother, John Donahue. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, William and Karen Donahue, of Wall, his grandchildren Brian and Paula Donahue, Howell, Kathleen and Adam Anzzolin, Red Bank, and Nicole and Alexandria Donahue, of Wall. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Tyler, Kylie and Connor Anzzolin, and Matthew and Emily Donahue, his sister, Agnes Kennedy, his nephew, John Kennedy, his niece, Kathleen Werner, and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will take place at O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35, at New Bedford Road, Wall, on Tuesday, September 24, 2013, from 4-8 P.M. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Catharine's Church, Spring Lake, on Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at 10:30 A.M., followed by entombment at St. Catharine's Cemetery, Wall. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Donahue's memory may be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Central and South Jersey, at www.komencsnj.org.
