Sue,
Just heard of this tragedy. My prayers go out to you and your family. Although in differerent grades, I played a lot of ball with Scott. He was a great guy and a great athlete. Seems like he developed into a great man and father.

During one's life many people pass through, few are remembered. Scott was one that will be remembered for his kindness, compassion and humor. Though it's 30 years since I last saw him, it seems like only yesterday that we were sharing a laugh. His tragic passing is a terrible loss to all. My heartfelt condolences go out to his loved ones.

Dearest Sue,
I have just heard about Scott and I am so deeply sorry and saddened. I am thinking about you and your whole family. I remember how you talked about Scott over the years and all the great things you said about him and the way in which you always spoke of him. I particularly recall your stories of skiing with him.

I cannot imagine how difficult his loss must be for all of you. I will be keeping you in my heart and thoughts.

With love and deep sympathy,

To Scott's family,
I played ball with Scott for many years with the AM crowd at the Atlantic Club. I enjoyed his competitiveness, his love of the game, his breadth of knowledge of the game and most especially, his friendly chatter while we road the pine between games. He always asked about my work and my children and he loved to speak glowingly about his boys. His love of life was infectious and whenever we talked he effected me in a positive way . I will miss him dearly and my prayers are with you.

Scott, Our Brethren

Dear Scott, you are our friend; Dear Skip, you are our brother;

We refuse to miss you; we know you too well, you are always with us;

Scott, pass me the ball….I’m open!

We knew you well; we knew you almost instantly, almost before we met that One L August in 1979;

We knew you well, in the mere time it took to play a game and have a beer, and then, once we knew you…well, you never changed. Thank you.

Scott, pass me the ball, I’m open!

And that would be because, more than any other, you knew yourself well.

It was always easiest to be your friend, for all of us…Davey and Jimmy and Mikey and Mike and Donnie.

Scott, pass me the ball, I’m open!

We envied the fact that you always knew who you were;

We envied the fact that you were always the person you wanted to be;

We envied the fact that you never had to turn back;

There was never a moment of pretense, never a moment of effort, there was only a man who was gentle and smart and quiet and steady and our best friend;

Scott, pass me the ball, I’m open!

In my heart, I believe he was born to be Scott;

In my heart, I believe he was born for Maria;

In my heart, I believe he was born for Luke and Kevin;

In my heart, I believe he quietly and graciously shared himself with the rest of us along the way.

Scott, pass me the ball, I’m open!

Dear Scott, you are our friend; Dear Skip, you are our brother; We love you;

We refuse to miss you; we know you too well, you are always with us;

Jimmy, Davey, Mikey, Mike and Donnie “The Brethren”

Dear Family of Scott, I knew your Dad and Husband as an adversary and also Scott appeared before me in Berkeley Municipal Court. We had many conversations about the AG's office, Manasquan football and his boys accomplishments. He was extremely proud of you. Please accept my sympathy for your loss. He was an exceptional lawyer but more importantly a decent person. Sincerely, John J. Sheehy
