David Williams Obituary

David Matthew Williams age 55, died at Sutter Hospital in Roseville, on August 20, 2012, following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on June 22, 1957, in Sacramento, to proud parents, Dave and Bernadine. He attended Lincoln High School, and graduated from Chico State University in 1981. He graduated with honors, and received a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education. David was a student athlete excelling in baseball and football through high school and college career.

David was a devoted coach. From 1988-1996 he coached at Wheatland High School, and from 1996-2003 he coached at East Nicolaus High School before he was diagnosed with cancer. David was a passionate coach, and a leader. During his time, he led his teams to many division championships, and was named Baseball Coach of the Year in 1996, and 1998. David impacted so many lives in such a positive way.

David is survived by his daughter, Renee, and his son Wayne. He is further survived by this mother and father, Dave and Bernadine. In addition, he was preceded into death by his infant sibling, grandmothers and grandfathers.

Funeral Services for David Williams will be held at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, August 25, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 280 Oak Tree Lane in Lincoln. Father Erik Lofgren will perform the Mass. Relatives and friends are welcome from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the church for a Rosary held on Friday August 24, 2012.

I truly enjoyed knowing Dave from our student teaching and coaching days at Red Bluff High School. He will surely be missed by those of us who knew him while he was in Red Bluff.
