Dot Guthrie Obituary

Dorothy Marilyn Guthrie went to be with the Lord on December 7th, suddenly, after a short illness. Dorothy was born in Arbuckle to Mary Lin Brown and Leslie Ball on February 8, 1935. She grew up in Maxwell and graduated from Maxwell High School 5-29-52. She then moved to Sacramento where she worked for the State of California until she met David, who was in the Air Force, and they wed 4-4-1953. They had three children, Patricia, Robin and David. The family loved camping and fishing. Dot was an avid fisherwoman and out-fished anyone who fished with her. She loved baseball, softball and football. She also was an umpire for the girls' and women's softball leagues in the Yuba-Sutter area for many years. She taught her daughters and granddaughters to sew, knit and crochet. She worked for Sutter North Medical Foundation until she went to work for Sutter Buttes Imaging. She worked with many diversified people and made a great many friends during her employment. She retired as office manager in 1995 after working there for 26 years. She and David enjoyed fishing and traveling after her retirement. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, David Guthrie; her three children: Patti and Gordon Evans, Robin and John Asby, and Nick and Lezlie Guthrie; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; a brother, John Ball of Texas. She was preceded in death by her father, Leslie Ball; mother, Mary Lin Sanders; brother, Addison "Bud" Ball; and sister Muriel Kralicek. No services are planned. Dottie, You left us way to soon. I know that God will comfort your family and your many friends. If they have computers up there send me a fowarding address so I can continue to send you the pictures of the baby ducks that you enjoyed so much, if not I'll just save them until we meet again. Marcia and I were so sorry to hear of Dot's passing. I worked with her at Bi-County Radiology/Sutter Buttes Imaging for 20 years from 1975-1995 when she retired. She was one-of-a-kind. We want to extend our sincere condolences to David, Patti, Robin and Nick and their families.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Dot. She was our Softball Umpire at Bryant Field when I was a kid. Later on she was a shopper where I worked. She was always so nice and ask about my old team mates. She will be greatly missed
