Eligio Ortiz Obituary
Eligio A. Ortiz, at 70,, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on December 21, 2014 at the U. C. Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, CA. Youngest of five, born June 23, 1944 in Tonaya, Jalisco, Mexico. After losing his father at the age of two, he started working at a very young age, always helping his widowed mother in the family's farming and agriculture business. He was a very strong, responsible, hardworking and persevering man who was fully dedicated to his job and family. He was very loving, caring and a wonderful father to his children who also treasured all his extended family and friends.
Since he immigrated to California, he worked for DePue Warehouse for 40 years (seasonally for a few years when he lived in Mexico), then returned to Williams, CA, where he has been a resident for the past 18 years. Never still, at times, he would work at another job or two and appreciated every opportunity to do so. He was a great friend to everyone he ever met and worked with.
Eligio was a member of the Williams Catholic Church of the Annunciation, whose very strong faith in the Lord would help him get through many tribulations and health issues in his life. This faith would help him stay strong and positive and to never give up, to always keep hoping. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, traveling, but his greatest joy was spending time with family and friends, savoring a good meal during the holidays, birthdays and any other chances there were to gather together.
Survivors include his loving family, wife, Mary; and children, Claudia, Daniel, Jerry, Nancy Ortiz-Zepeda, Elvis and Edgar. Finally being blessed with a beautiful grandson, Leonardo Zepeda.
Visitation at 5:00-8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2015, at McNary- Moore Funeral Home, 107 5th Street in Colusa. Funeral Mass at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2015, at Williams Catholic Church of the Annunciation, 617 8th Street, Williams. Burial will follow at the Williams Cemetery.
