Gregory Godinez Obituary

Gregory "Greg"/"Goyo" Godinez, 42, passed away peacefully in his sleep October 25, 2021, in Marysville, CA.

He was born on December 2, 1979, in Colusa, CA, to Audrey Denise Wanner and Ruben Joe Godinez. Goyo attended schools in Arbuckle, CA, his entire life. He was a resident of Arbuckle, CA, for most of his life before moving to the Yuba Sutter area.

Goyo was a diehard Minnesota Vikings fan, loving the Vikings since he was a boy and letting everyone around him know he was watching the game. He loved spending time with family and friends, drinking Mi Chelada's and listening to music. Greg was a history book of family information and had a mind like a time capsule.

Goyo was a warrior in his fight against muscular dystrophy and lived his life loving God, his children, and many family and friends. He was a friend and inspiration to all, never giving up and was a fighter until the very end.

Goyo is survived by his children, Alexis Godinez, Ruben Godinez, Angelina Gomez, and Alyssa Gomez; his mother, several sisters and brothers, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and many cousins. Goyo loved his children more than anything in this world and they were the biggest reason he fought his battle so hard.

Goyo was preceded in death by his father, Ruben Godinez; grandparents, Juan and Emma (his "Mama"), and Leroy and Lillie McAnalley; and several aunts and uncles.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, November 6, 2021, at 8 am, with a viewing starting at 7 am, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Arbuckle, with burial following at Holly Cross Cemetery in Arbuckle. We are asking that family and friends wear Minnesota Vikings apparel or their colors to show the love for Goyo.
