Gurmit Gill Obituary
Gurmit Singh Gill (Sarpanch), age 88, of Yuba City, CA, passed away due to a heart attack and a 5 week battle with a hemorrhagic stroke on July 24, 2016.
He was born on November 27, 1927 in Pakistan, Punjab and moved to Yuba City 44 years ago. Gurmit Singh Gill was the Sarpanch of the village: Talwandi Fattu, and a farmer. He was a very dedicated, caring and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He devoted his life to selfless service of others both locally and abroad. He was an active member of both Bogue Road Sikh Temple and Tierra Buena.
He is survived by his brothers, Ajit Singh Gill of India and Budh Singh Gill of England; son Bahadur Singh of Yuba City and daughter-in-law Jasvir K. Singh of Yuba City; 3 daughters, Gurmail Kaur Kooner of England, Parmjit Kaur Clair of Yuba City and Parvinder Kaur Virk of Fairfield, CA, as well as 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Nasib Kaur, sister Amar Kaur of India and brother Satnam Singh Gill of Canada.
Services will be conducted Sunday, July 31, 2016 at 11:00 am at Ullrey Memorial Chapel with Giani Joginder Singh, Bogue Road Sikh Temple officiating. Final prayers and cremation will follow at Ullrey Memorial Chapel Crematory. Bhog services will follow at Bogue Road Sikh Temple, Yuba City. Arrangements are under the direction of Ullrey Memorial Chapel.
