Joan Everett Obituary

Mom was born in Twin Falls, ID, on May 3, 1925, and passed away on January 29, 2026, while residing at The Fountains in Yuba City, CA.

She raised two daughters, Jeanne Sweeney and Janice Weir, as a single parent. She was a grandmother to Brigette Hockett, Kali (Weir) Leonard, Jules Beresford and Deja Erwin; great-grandmother to Declan Leonard, Joya Roberts and Esabelle LaVigne.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Beau Beresford.

When Mom retired from Sutter County Welfare she built a house and moved to Loma Rica, CA. She was very caring and would help any person or animal in need, which she did throughout her life, and asked for nothing in return.

She was also headstrong, funny, artistically creative, an amazing pianist (never took a lesson), and a fearless adventurer; ballooning at 70, skydiving at 80, and wanted to go bungie jumping at 90, which the family vetoed.

She loved playing the piano for Sunday services at the First Methodist Church in Marysville, CA, which she did for many years.

She always had a goal to live to be 100. Well, she succeeded and tacked on a few months for good measure. That would be just like her.

She will be greatly missed by many friends at her church and, especially, by her family.
