Kathleen Growney Obituary

Kathleen M. Growney, of Yuba City, CA, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 20, 2023, at the age of 62. She was born January 11, 1961, in San Francisco, CA, and spent her early years in Red Bluff, CA. In 1972, the family moved to Yuba City and Kathy lived there the rest of her life with her family.

Daughter of Carolyn and John Growney; sister of Susan Shaw (Growney); aunt of Shelby Houdelette, Shelby Shaw, and Mackenzie Shaw; sister-in-law of Dave Shaw.

Kathy worked at Petrocelli's (now Marcello's) where she met some of her best friends to this day. She went into the bread industry and worked for Entenmann's and then Bimbo's and eventually ended up at Raley's. She was such a joy to all who met her. She greeted everyone with a smile and a hug and would do anything for you.

Kathy lived life to the fullest and her great compassion for people and animals in need were unmatched. She was always taking in an animal or a person in need. She would always put others first before herself.

She loved camping, fishing, kayaking, drumming, tortoises and dogs. Flipper was her favorite, but I think Chenin and Bailey would dispute that. Anne Murray, Terri Clark and Soap Opera's were also her favorite things and spending time with family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carolyn and John Growney.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Kathleen was my favorite person at Raleys, so friendly, I could say anything to her and she´d get the point and we´d laugh! I have been wondering where she was, very sorry to see this sad news, such a great person.

She was the best big sister ever even though she was shorter. Our running joke was she was the short one and I was the cute one. You were always there for me and I was always there for you. Our last days were so amazing and will stay on my heart forever. I love you and miss you every day.
