I miss you friend. I think of you often. I hope you know how much you are loved by all. Oh, Nick. I can't stop thinking about you. As time goes on I realize just how big a part of my life you really are. I feel like I am missing a limb. We shared not only DNA, but special memories and a connection no one else could touch. Thanks for calling me on those late nights and telling me your secrets.

Nick I miss you so much. Our last memory of you is when you took Tyler and I to dinner. I will remember you letting Tyler try every type of Italian soda and while we were waiting for our food you and Tyler stood on top of the garbage can and threw his parachute guy as high as you could. After dinner you took us out to ice cream and Tyler ordered pumpkin, mint, and cheesecake and almost all the toppings they had. We laughed forever, then we both had to try it. It was so gross, but so funny. Thank you Nick for all the good memories and good times. We love you and miss you deeply. You will always be in our thoughts and in our hearts.

I am at a loss for words to find out that such a good friend is gone. Nick was a very dear friend to Dean and I, we will miss him. It saddens me that he was taken so soon. Dear Tracy, I read all the special things that everyone had to say about Nick. Although I never got to meet him, I think I would have recognized him because the descriptions of his smile, warmth and friendliness is exactly what I think of when I think of you. Nick has been a friend of mine for many years, he always had a smile on his face and he just had something about him that lit up the whole room. Everytime we went to see Nick he was always in this happy going mood and always talking about his boys and how much he loved them. He was a very cool person to be around and talk to and made you forget your problems because he always was making you laugh in one way or another and always giving you hugs. We will miss all the fun we had hanging out even though we didn't do much of that these last couple of years but it was fun the few times we did. We will miss you alot and you will be in our memories.

I saw Nick during the summer and talked for awhile all he talked about was his sons I know he loved them very much I was lucky to watch him grow from a little boy to a young man, with a smile that could light the world.

My heart goes out to each and everyone of us that are in pain tonight. Nick you will be greatly missed!! We met Nick way back in elementary school. Every time you seen him, he always had a smile on his face and something to say to make you smile. A hug for anyone anytime he seen them. A story to tell no matter what time of day or night it was!! We are grateful for the time we got to share with Nick throughout the years. I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Nick. He was a special young man. I had the pleasure of being one of his teachers at Butte View High and he was remarkable. His parents were so supportive in their efforts to help him succeed. Fortunately he will live on through his children.

Nick was always there for me wether it was to tell me that i was messing up or if i just needed to vent he never judged me in the things i did he just listened and offered his point of view on it. he was a great friend and had a bigger heart than anyone ive ever known. his friends and family always came before him. you will be missed nick you were a rare breed and if everyone could be a quarter of the man you were the world would be a better place. i am a better person because of you and i promise to tell your kids what a good man you were

Every time I cry I tell myself you are in heaven with Adam, Theo, Ian and your family so I know you are not alone. 4 sutter boys kicken in heaven. I have so many memories of Nick that still make me laugh today. He was an amazing man that I have had the pleasure of being around since kindergarten. Nick use to come over to my dads house and have a few beers once in a while when the boys were there and he would get my dad laughing so hard he would cry. Though the tears I shed today are for you nick, I know my dad was there waiting for you when you passed and you both will have God laughing and falling out of his chair on a daily basis.
Tracy, Brad, and Steph-Losing a son or a brother is almost inconsolable, but he is okay now. I am hardly a spiritual person, but something in my bones tells me that he is smiling and laughing as we speak. If any of you need anything, just let me know. My love to you all.

I ran into Nick a couple of days before his passing he gave me a big hug. Before that I hadn't seen Nick since high school. He was always such a sweet heart to me! I hope his children will grow up knowing what a great guy their father was!!

Nick was what you called a "real" friend. It was always about you, never about him. Nick followed me around Yuba City once, just to make sure I was gonna come see his new baby. He was a proud and loving father. I will always treasure every memory I had with Nick. I love you Nick!

My heart and prayers go out to all of Nick's family. I had the pleasure of knowing Nick since he was a young boy. He grew up with both of my kids, Kenny and Katie Mertz and was always very polite when he came to visit, even up to as recent as a year ago when I seen Nick in town. He was very proud of being a father and adored his boys, and as long as I had known Nick never once did he have a rude or disrespectful thing to say about anyone. You were greatly loved and will be greatly missed, however our memories will keep you forever in our hearts.
