Norma Jenks Obituary

Norma D. Jenks passed into spirit on Monday, March 26th, 2018 in Marysville, CA. She was born to Elbridge and Lillian (Gregory) Jenks on March 28th, 1934, in Hanover, NH.

She was predeceased by her older brother Thomas Jenks and is survived by younger siblings Robert Jenks and Susan Van Pelt, as well as extended family and friends.

Norma grew up on a farmstead in Lyme, NH, was a fan of Gene Autry, and member of the Grange and 4-H. After graduating from Orford High School, she continued her education at UNH, received a bachelor's of nursing at Sacred Heart Nursing School and started her career at Peter Bent Brigham in Boston, MA. She subsequently earned her master's in nursing at UC Berkeley in CA.

Norma wasn't afraid to blaze her own path and traveled throughout Europe and nursed her way thru Hawaii, Australia, and the North East before planting her roots in Yuba City, CA in the 90's, after having lived and worked throughout the state.

An avid animal lover, Norma volunteered at the local animal shelter in addition to the library and Community Memorial Museum of Sutter County. She had varied interests including antiques (buying/selling), family genealogy and history, gardening and growing roses, politics and was a diehard fan of the Red Sox and SF 49ers.

She was a loyal sister, aunt, great aunt and friend and will be remembered and missed for her intellect, wit, compassion, tenacious spirit and sense of humor. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of those who were fortunate enough to have known her.

Norma will be laid to rest next to her parents in Lyme, NH. A celebration of her life will be held in the fall in both CA and NH.
