Robert James Storm

Robert Storm, 85, of Yuba City, passed away November 20, 2016.

Bob was born in Gridley, California to parents Jim and Leila Storm. He grew up on a dairy farm so there were always chores to be done. When he wasn't in school you would find Bob with brother Richard, milking cows, cleaning out stalls or moving cattle. It was at this early age that Bob developed a work ethic that was second to none.

He graduated from Gridley High School and UC Davis. In high school, Bob made it to the State finals on the debate team and was active in 4-H and FFA. While in high school, Bob met Betty Hale, the love of his life. They married in 1951 and settled in Gridley where Bob farmed and Betty worked at the Butte County Fair.

In 1957, Bob took a job with the Federal Land Bank. In conjunction with the new job, the young family moved to Yuba City where Bob and Betty enjoyed raising their 2 children, Jim and Cherie. Bob retired from the bank at age 55 and concentrated the rest of his professional life on building an independent appraisal business and farming his Gridley properties.

Bob took pride in giving back to the community. He devoted his nights and weekends to multiple charitable organizations. He was a past President of the Kiwanis, a former Potentate of the Ben Ali Shrine Club, a 4-H Leader, a member of the YC Enterprise Masonic Lodge and the YC SIRs. He also served on the Yuba-Sutter Fair Board and the Fremont- Rideout Hospital Board. As part of his civic duties in the early 70's, Bob enjoyed the privilege of meeting and greeting then Governor Ronald Reagan to the Yuba-Sutter Fairgrounds for a BBQ.

He enjoyed playing cards, working in the yard and traveling the world with friends and family.

Bob leaves behind son, Jim Storm of Yuba City; daughter and son-in-law, Cherie and Jim Pappas of San Jose; grandsons: Daniel Storm, Drew and Rob Pappas; and great-grand daughter, Shelly Storm.

Graveside services at Gridley Cemetery at 9:30 a.m. for family and Masons only. A memorial service will be held December 1st, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church located at 446 Kentucky St, Gridley, CA 95948. A reception will follow at the Gridley Moose Lodge located at 1533 Hwy 99, Gridley, CA.

Memorials may be made to the Shrine Hospital. The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Rosa Munoz, Bob's kind and amazing caregiver.
