Vera Eleanor Scott

Vera Eleanor Scott, who would have celebrated her 87th birthday on February 28th, passed away at the Prestige in Marysville on January 23, 2022. She was a victim of Parkinson's disease for several years and had resided at the Prestige since mid-September, where she received wonderful care from the many caring attendants there.

Vera was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1935 to her parents, Paul and Grace MacDonald and had a brother and sister, Paul, Jr. and Carol, who pre-deceased her. She was raised in Corning, CA , where she graduated from Corning High School in 1953. She moved with her family to Chico in 1954, where she met and fell in love with her future husband, Jim Scott, while working as an usherette at the theater. They were married in Reno on August 13, 1955 and enjoyed 66 years of marriage.

Vera considered herself as a homemaker or as she said, a domestic engineer, never just a housewife. Her proudest accomplishment in life was the creation and guidance of three wonderful children, Dale, Richard and Julie, whom she loved dearly, and rightly so.

Dale joined the U.S. Army, retired after 22 years as a First Sergeant with three children and lives in Colorado Springs, where he works. He was an Eagle Scout with 53 merit badges. Richard was a co-valedictorian at Marysville High School, attended Yuba College and UOP and became a Mechanical Engineer with L.A. Power and Water in Los Angeles. Julie married a great guy after high school and went to Gilbert, AZ where she raised two fine children, went back to school, got her RN and has been a Hospice Nurse for many years. Vera has nine great-grandchildren. She also has two lovely daughters-in-law, Rebecca and Tracy.

Cremation arrangements have been performed by Sierra View Mortuary and Memorial Park. Hopefully, the future will allow us to perform a memorial remembrance for Vera when times and conditions are more suitable. A donation to the Parkinson's Foundation would be appreciated.
