MARIAN GAYLE COFFEY RIESEN
Marian Gayle Coffey Riesen was born May 17, 1934, in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Gayle Wilkinson Coffey and Doris Overton Coffey. She graduated from Ardmore High School in 1952 and from the University of Oklahoma in 1956. She was a proud member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She passed from this life on February 3, 2025 in Ardmore.
On December 15, 1956, Marian married Albert (Buddy) Riesen, Jr. In 1958, after Buddy's service in the US Air Force, they returned to Ardmore where Buddy was publisher of the "Daily Ardmoreite" where he managed the newspaper, and she managed the home. During this time, they raised three children, Tom, Mark, and Katie-the joy of their lives. Buddy and Marian were married for almost 56 years, before Buddy's death in 2012.
Marian was an enrolled member in the Chickasaw Nation and her Chickasaw heritage through her father's lineage. Marian supported a number of local causes including Oak Hall School as a founder, St. Philips Episcopal Church, The Holly Garden Club, The Library Board, The DAR, Southwest Historical Museum and the Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumni. Until very recently, she enjoyed her Monday Bridge Games with her close friends.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents, Dorris and Gayle Coffey and her husband, Albert "Buddy" Riesen.
She is survived by her sons, Thomas Coffey Riesen and wife Cindy, Mark Easley Riesen and his wife Martha, daughter Katherine Riesen Lathrop and her husband, Jamie, grandson, William Dunn Riesen and his wife Barbara, grandson Matthew Albert Riesen and his wife Alyssa, grandson Andrew Taylor Riesen and his wife Angela, grandson, Blake Easley Riesen, granddaughter, Allison Blair Lathrop, grandson Benjamin Riesen Lathrop, great-granddaughter Danielle Riesen (daughter of Matthew and Alyssa), and another great-granddaughter arriving in Feb '25 (daughter of Andrew and Angela) She is also survived by a brother, William Lee Coffey and several nieces and nephews.
Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 7th at St Philips Episcopal church. A reception will follow. Thanks be to God!
Tom Riesen, Mark Riesen, Jamie Lathrop, William Riesen, Matthew Riesen, Andrew Riesen, Blake Riesen, and Benjamin Lathrop will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary bearers are Charlie Clowe, Sam Daube, and Gary Dillard.
