MARK ECK Obituary

MARK WARREN ECK Healdton-Services for Mark Warren Eck, 74, Pharmacist from Healdton, are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at the Church of Christ on Merrick Drive in Ardmore, OK with Danny Huntsman and Kenny Shaver officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00 P.M. at the Hampton Vaughan Crestview Memorial Park in Wichita Falls, TX. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Healdton. Mark was born on June 14, 1950, at Duncan, Ok to the late Mr. Kenneth Frank Eck and Mrs. Ouida Susie (Landon) Eck. He went to his Heavenly home on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. He passed away at the OU Edmond Hospital, surrounded by a host of family and friends, singing hymns and reading scripture. Mark was raised in Healdton where he attended school, graduating with the Healdton High School Class of 1968. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University College of Pharmacy in 1974. He married the love of his life, the former Miss Sandra "Sandi" Kay Owen in Wichita Falls, Texas, on December 28, 1973, and they were blessed with 4 children, Kenna Nicole, Travis Warren, Sarah Renee, and Megan Renee. Mark was Pharmacy Owner and manager of Eck Drug Co., Inc. and Eck Medical Services. Later in life he enjoyed providing relief pharmacy services at multiple locations in the area. Mark served on many Oklahoma Pharmacy Association Committees. He was Vice President and President of the Oklahoma Pharmacy Association, on a special committee for the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy and won the prestigious Bowl of Hygeia award. The Eck family was awarded the first Heritage award from the SWOSU College of Pharmacy. Mark was very involved in his community. He served as a volunteer fireman for the Healdton Fire Department, served as a member in the Lions Club and was President of the Chamber of Commerce. Mark served as President of the Healdton Alumni Association, as a City Councilman, as Mayor and City Manager. He served on the Healdton Hospital Foundation Board, the Healdton Airport Board, the Mount Olive Cemetery Board, the Red Cross Board, and most recently served on the Lighthouse Board in Ardmore. Fishing was Mark's favorite hobby, especially his annual trip to Lake of the Woods in Ontario, Canada with Rick Brown and a group of retired Halliburton employees. He loved going to baseball, softball, basketball, soccer, and football games, track and cross country meets, and musical performances to cheer on his 8 grandchildren. Mark loved sharing jokes from his joke file and pulling practical jokes to entertain his friends and family. Mark was a member of the Shell Street Church of Christ since birth. He served as a deacon and then as an elder for 20 years. He taught adult Bible classes, led communion services, preached on occasion, and led many heartfelt prayers offering comfort and solace to all. Mark was a friend to all, whether old or new acquaintances. His charming smile and disarming personality made everyone feel comfortable and allowed them to share their life stories in a safe place. We are thankful and proud that he is a member of our family and happy that he shared himself with countless others. May his legacy be reflecting the love of God, to bless the lives of those who knew him. To know him was to love him! Preceding him in death are his parents; stepmother, Lorraine Eck; parents-in-law, Buck and Lydia Owen; daughter, Sarah Renee Eck; sisters-in-law, Martha Eck and Elaine Eck; nephew, Jeremy Eck. Survivors include his wife Sandi Eck of the home; daughter, Kenna Schwerdtfeger and husband Tyson of Tulsa; son, Travis Eck and wife Shelley of Houston, TX; daughter, Megan Nix and husband James of Ardmore; grandchildren, Owen and Kate Schwerdtfeger of Tulsa, Arwen, Jonas, and Remy Eck of Houston, TX, Jackson, Cole, and Sarah Nix of Ardmore; brothers, Biff Eck and wife Valarie of Waurika and Alan Eck of Ada; brother-in-law, Richard Owen and wife Jolene of Wichita Falls, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family, and a host of very special friends. Pallbearers will be John Alan Eck, Stephen Eck, Jacob Eck, David Eck, Bobby Dickerson, Scotty Hathaway. Honorary bearers are Rick Brown, Dr. Mark Newey, Tom Hobza, Tom Cariker, Allen Hill, and Kenny Shaver. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 5-7 P.M., at the Shell Street Church of Christ at Healdton. Donations may be made to the Healdton Alumni Association in memory of Mark. Mail to P.O. Box 771 Healdton, Ok 73438. Services will be live streamed at www.merrickdrivechurch.com. The family would like to express their gratitude and great thanks to all who supported them during their time at the hospital. It is extremely hard to say goodbye to your loved one, but the burden was lightened as each one arrived to offer their support and love with hymns, scripture, bear hugs, and shared tears. We hope you will join us in celebrating a life well-lived and one that will be long remembered.
