Dona Mae Crocker

Dona Mae Crocker, 95, of Lexington, SC, formerly of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away Monday, June 5, 2017 at Morningside Assisted Living, in Lexington. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Saturday, June 10, 2017 at First Lutheran Church in Brookings, SD. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church, beginning at 9:00 am. Interment will be at 12:30 pm at East Highland Lutheran Church, near Brandt, SD. Rude's Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Dona Mae Johnson was born on May 1, 1922, in Gary, SD daughter of Arthur and Lottie (Martin) Johnson. She grew up in Gary and graduated from Gary High School in 1940. She was united in marriage to Cyril E. Crocker on May 27, 1940. The couple lived in various communities such as Gary, SD, Luck, WI and Watertown, SD. Dona Mae went on to complete Cosmetology School, and spent many years as a hairdresser, a job she thoroughly enjoyed. The couple made their home in Inglewood and Sunnyvale, CA for more than 50 years, until Cyril's health brought them to live in Sioux Falls, SD. Cyril died on July 16, 2008. Dona Mae continued to live in Sioux Falls, until she moved to Lexington, SC in 2015 to be closer to family.

She was a past member of Los Altos Lutheran Church, in California and Peace Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. Dona Mae loved to play bingo, playing cards and any kind of board game.

She is survived by her sons, Roger Crocker (Crystelle) of Winfield, IL and Jack Crocker (Sharon) of Lexington, SC; six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cyril, one sister, LaVerne Christensen; one brother, Merrill Crocker and her grandchild, Cyril Evan Crocker.

Ms. Crocker was a delight and joy to be around and to assist her with any needs or concerns she had. I became very close to her during her stay at Morningside of Lexington. She will be sincerely missed. Love you Ms. Dona Mae, go rest high with the angels.
