Isabelle Falk Obituary
Isabelle Falk, 95, of Madison, S.D., died Monday, March 31, 2014, at Bethel Lutheran Home in Madison. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 5, at Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem, S.D., with burial to follow at Ramsey Cemetery, rural Montrose. Visitation will begin at noon Friday, April 4, at the funeral home, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m.
Isabelle Davis was born Feb. 8, 1919, near Spencer, S.D., to Marshall and Belle (Bennett) Davis. She graduated from Spencer High School in 1937. She attended Freeman Junior College and taught 12 years, primarily in rural schools. On May 25, 1951, she married Floyd Falk in the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa. They farmed northeast of Montrose, S.D. He died in 1960, and Isabelle stayed on the farm and raised their four children. She later resumed her formal education and received a bachelor of science degree from Dakota State College in Madison. She worked many years as an aide in the Montrose school system. After moving off the farm, she lived in Montrose and finally in Madison.
The greatest joys in her life were her family, her Christian faith and her educational career, both as a student and a teacher.
She is survived by her children: Sylvia (Jerry) Gause of rural Montrose; Keith (Barb) Falk of Slayton, Minn.; Bruce (Julie Thomas) Falk of Sioux Falls; and LaVonne (Brian) Benson of Madison; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother, Raymond.

I am so sorry for your loss. Corey and I lived by your Mom in Montrose for several years. Isabelle was one of the kindest women I've ever known. You were blessed to have her in your adult years.

So sorry for your loss...I will always remember Isabelle in the halls of Montrose HS in the early 80's. As a young teacher, it was a pleasure to run into her in the school...her friendly smile and hello helped make my day a good one...
