Janine Ball Welsh, 66, of Bloomington, IL, passed away peacefully at 10:55 PM on Sunday, October 22, 2017, at home surrounded by family. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M. Friday, October 27, at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, IL, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 P.M. Private internment will be at a later date at St. Michaels Catholic Cemetery, Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Lung Association.

Janine was born May 20, 1951, in Sioux Falls, South, Dakota. She is the daughter of Byron Jay and Evelyn Pearl Wolf Ball. She married Michael L. Welsh on January 15, 1972, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He survives.

Also surviving are her children, Sarah (Derek) Ladgenski, Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Deirdre (Eric) Noshay, Glenview, Illinois, Nate (Megan) Welsh, Chicago, Illinois, six grandchildren, Grace, Vivian, Foster, Emma, Quinn and Evelyn, one sister, Chloe (Robert) Schneider, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, one sister-in-law Sue (John) Malcom, Arlington Heights, Illinois, and several nieces and nephews.

Janine is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, James Ball.

Janine is a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church of Merna. She received her Bachelor Degree in English from Benedictine College Atchison, Kansas, and taught English at Atchison Middle School.

Janine was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and loyal friend. She was a witty and funny conversationalist who loved to laugh with family and friends. She created beautiful needlepoints, was an avid reader, and enjoyed playing bridge. Janine was a staunch Democrat and a fighter for the underdogs in life. Despite her illness, nevertheless she persisted. We hold her in our hearts and will forever be grateful for all the love, support, and guidance she shared with us. She will be dearly missed by all.
