Marlene Rollins Obituary
Marlene (Hohn) Rollins, 77, of Salem, Oregon passed away Sunday, August 2, 2015 at her home. Memorial Services are 1:00 P.M. Friday, August 28, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Plankinton, SD. A Committal Service will follow at Mizpah Cemetery. Memorials in Marlene's honor may be directed to your local food pantry. Mount Funeral Home of Plankinton is assisting with arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may be extended to the family through mountfuneralhome.com.
Marlene Mae (Hohn) Rollins was born on June 14, 1938 to Marvin and Frances (Jacobs) Hohn in Mitchell, South Dakota. She graduated from Mt. Vernon High School and completed several higher education courses. After working for the State Department, she married James Rollins and made her home in Oregon. She was employed with Bell Telephone for 20 years and served in leadership positions with the Communication Workers of America (CWA) and other organizations.
Marlene was active in the American Business Women's Association (ABWA) and in civic activities, including volunteering in political campaigns. She also worked as a realtor for several years, then completed her career serving the public for over 10 years with the Oregon Department of Revenue. She loved hot air balloons, Hawaii and the beach, whale watching, reading and gardening.
Grateful for having shared in Marlene's life: her daughter, Michelle (Rollins) Teed of Olympia, WA; eight siblings: Norma (Terry) Sauvage of Plankinton, SD, Dennis (Eileen) Hohn of Plankinton, SD, Michael (Becky) Hohn of Plankinton, SD, Dwight (Sandy) Hohn of Sioux Falls, SD, Patricia (Ralph) Kulm of Selby, SD, Darrell (LeAnne) Hohn of Deadwood, SD, Richard (Janet) Hohn of Huron, SD and Roger Hohn of Phoenix, AZ; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in passing by: her parents, Marvin and Frances Hohn; two sisters: Janice Ries and Judie Jeffries; and her brother, Curtis Hohn.

Marlene has been my friend for many years. We have had many long conversations and laughs. We made several short trips around Oregon; to the coast many times, to Joseph and to Winston to see the wildlife safari.She will be greatly missed. Cathy Chamberlain

Michelle and family. I wanted to send my condolences to you and your family. I had known Marlene for about 1 year. I had the honor and privileged of coming into her home twice a week to help her with some household chores. Marlene Always had a smile on her face and always laughing and she always had a positive attitude about life. Michelle, your mom talked about you often and how proud she was of you. ...
