Sigurd Andenas Obituary
Sigurd Andenas, age 94, of Howard, South Dakota, died Saturday, July 20, 2013, at the Howard Good Samaritan Center, Howard, South Dakota. Sigurd Mads Andenas was born September 2, 1918, at Innvik, Norway and grew up in Baerum, near Oslo. He was a merchant sailor who served in the Royal Norwegian Navy during WWII. In 1946 he emigrated to the US and farmed near Howard, South Dakota until 2000. He and his wife Rigmor, also from Norway, raised a family of four. Sigurd was a faithful servant of his church and community. In later years, he was active in Senior Games and Senior Dances. Sigurd was preceded in death by his wife Rigmor and his seven brothers. Sigurd is survived by 2 sons: Mads (Chloe) Andenas of Howard, SD and Norman (Cecelia Wittmayer) Andenas and 2 daughters: Ingrid (Constantine) Chamales of Gig Harbor, WA; Signe (Bruce) Bobbitt of Mendota Heights, MN; 4 grandchildren: Kirsten (Reggie) Andenas Aligada , Captain Steven Chamales (USMC), Captain Kristoffer Chamales (US Army), and Morgan Andenas; 1 great-grandchild: Ruby Frances Aligada; and special friend and companion, Shirley Salter of Lake Preston, SD.

Ingrid and family, Sorry to hear of your father's passing. He was always a delight to have as a customer at the coffeehouse. Wish I could have seen him do a dance step or two, he must have been light on his feet! His dance card is most likely eternally full! Miss all of you.

I will remember Sigurd as a polite, gregarious person who always had a big smile and greeting when he met you. He was a true gentleman. He was so attentive to his wife Rigmor when she was in the Good Samaritan Center. He will truy be missed by all who knew him. His was a life well lived.
