Wayne Watson Obituary
Brandon- Wayne "Doc" Watson, 88, passed away while surrounded by his family on Sun., Aug. 20 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Private interment will precede his memorial service, which starts at 10:30 AM Tue., Aug. 22 at Brandon Lutheran Church. Visitation begins at 5:30 PM Mon., Aug. 21 at Brandon Lutheran Church, where the family will greet friends from 5:30-8:00 PM.
Wayne J. "Doc" Watson, son of Wayne S. and Jenny (Slykhuis) Watson, was born March 21, 1929 in Brookings County, SD. Soon after, the family moved to Sioux Falls, SD where Wayne lived until his mother died when he was ten. Wayne then moved to Brandon, SD to live with his sister and brother-in-law, Blanche and Louie Hoyt.
Following graduation from Brandon High School in 1948, Wayne entered the U.S. Army. He served during the Korean Conflict and was stationed for a short time in Japan. After his honorable discharge, Wayne returned to Brandon. He was employed by John Morrell & Company for 37 years.
Wayne was united in marriage with Ramona Ode on May 30, 1954 in Brandon. The couple has lived in Brandon since then.
Survivors include his wife, Ramona; 3 children, Paul Watson, Omaha, NE; Mary (Dan Rath) Watson, Canton, SD, Barbara (Mitch) Kjose, Sioux Falls; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; and a brother, Don (Vickie) Watson, St. George, UT. Memorials are preferred to Brandon Lutheran Church, the Wayne Watson Memorial Fund or a charity of the donor's choice. Obit and online guestbook at www.georgeboom.com.

We were blessed to spend some time with Wayne earlier this summer. He was a kind soul with a great sense of humor. He was a great gardener and was proud of it. To get to know his children has been a pleasure and says something as to his parenting. He will be greatly missed. Love and prayers to Ramona and their children and their families.
