Billy Combs Obituary
Mr. Billy Franklin Combs, better known as "Bill", 85, of Laurel Springs, NC, passed away Monday morning, January 16, 2023 at his home.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Peak Creek Church of the Brethren with Pastor Tim Sizemore and Brother Ed Hall officiating. Entombment followed in the Peak Creek Cemetery with military rites.
The family received friends from 1:00-2:00pm on Wednesday; one hour prior to the funeral service.
Mr. Combs was born in Alleghany County on February 9, 1937 to the late Fred and Minnie McCoin Combs. He served in the United States Army. He was a faithful member and the treasurer at Peak Creek Church of the Brethren. He retired from Modern Globe, where he worked as a CPA. After retired he went to work for Yadkin Valley Bank in Jefferson as a bank teller for many more years.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, the love of his life, Wilma Arlene Bowlin Combs. Bill was a very devoted and loving husband; a friend to all. He will be deeply missed.
Mr. Combs is survived by a step son, Steve Woodie (Tammie), of Laurel Springs; a special caregiver, Rita Richardson; two grandchildren, Kevin Woodie (Kayla), of Laurel Springs and Chasity Dishman (Jesse), of Jefferson; four great-grandchildren, Isaiah AllenWoodie. Rylee Phipps, Mallory Phipps and Jesslynn Dishman; two nieces and one nephew also survive.
The family respectfully requested no food or flowers, please.
