Catherine E. Gurske, age 94 of Ashland, WI passed away Thursday, Jan 4, 2024 at Court Manor Health Services in Ashland. Kay was born Mar 8, 1929 in Oakland, CA the daughter of Thomas B. and Elizabeth A. (Kennedy) James.
On May 15, 1948 she was united in marriage to Edward L. Gurske in Oakland, CA. She worked at J.C. Penny in Ashland for 25 years and was affectionately known as "Catalog Kay." After retirement she delivered Meals on Wheels in the Ashland area. She loved to read and could be found at the Vaughn Library in Ashland on any given day.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathryn (James) Moon of Burlington, WI; son, John M. of Cypress, TX; five grandchildren, Cynthia, Mindy, John, Elizabeth and Karina; five great-grandchildren; special great-niece and nephew, Vicky & Dan Westland and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Thomas; husband, Edward on Apr 7, 2006; brothers, Robert & Aubrey and sisters, Meta McNair & Florence Parsons.
A Memorial Service for Catherine will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 in the Saint Francis Shrine located in Saint Agnes Cemetery, Ashland with Father Jerome D'Souza as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Saint Agnes Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Mountain Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Ashland and Mellen, WI.
