Steven James Tomczak, of Ashland, age 57, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Aspirus St Luke's Hospital in Duluth, MN, with his mother at his side.
Steven was born on January 17, 1968 in Ashland, WI to James and Lorna Mary (Gustafson) Tomczak.
Growing up Steven played basketball, baseball and ran cross-country. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and ice fishing on the lakes. He served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force stationed in Florida.
Steven is survived by his mother, Lorna Mary (Gustafson) Tomczak, of Ashland; Aunt, Valerie (Gustafson) Bielke of Newnan, Georgia; Aunt Sharon Gustafson of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Uncle Charlie Gustafson of Ashland and Uncle Robert Gustafson of Lawton, Oklahoma; cousins, Kristine Bielke and Jon Bielke of Newnan, Georgia; Dana (Gustafson) Koletar, of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Tara (Gustafson) Higginbotham of Port Orange, Florida; Jennifer (Gustafson) Bearden of Fort Worth, Texas and Melissa (Gustafson) Shelton of Lawton, Oklahoma.
Steven was preceded in death by his spouse, Tammy (Veno) Tomczak, brother, Alan Tomczak and father, James Tomczak.
A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at 11:00 am, at Mountain Funeral Home in Ashland, with Deacon John Grek officiating. Military honors to follow the funeral service with a luncheon served afterwards.
Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 am, before the funeral service, on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at Mountain Funeral Home.
Interment will take place at St. Agnes Cemetery on a later date.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Mountain Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Ashland and Mellen, WI.
