Gloria Irene Devol

Athens Gloria Irene Perkins Jr. Devol, 76, of Athens, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023, after a long illness, at Riverside Hospital in Columbus. She was the daughter of Gloria Irene and Claud Perkins, born September 23, 1946, in Abilene, Texas. Her parents preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, of 55 years, Dale W. Devol of Athens Ohio; daughter, Ashley Alda Devol husband, Josh Fields; and her sister, Julia Alda Crawford and husband Mick.

Gloria retired from Ohio University Libraries in 2005. She graduated from Cordell High School in Cordell, Oklahoma and attended Southwestern State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma. She was, before her illness, an avid quilter, loved to play bridge, travel, and card maker. She loved her pets Chou Chou, Taffy, K.C., Lisa, Cassidy, Kane, Memphis, Fox, and her grand dog, Lucy. Gloria loved to travel having lived in Japan and Okinawa. Visited Germany, Peru, Mexico, several islands in the Caribbean, Alaska, and many of the contiguous lower states, and Nova Scotia.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St, Nelsonville.
