Family-Placed Death Notice

DR. ALBERT P. ROSSDr, Albert P. Ross, age 84, died on November 17, 2005 of Alzheimer related causes. Dr. Ross was the 13th of 14 children and the only child in his family to complete college. He was reared in Ocilla, Georgia. He attended West Georgia College, Georgia Teacher's College, Mercer University and received his doctorate from Auburn University. He served as a teacher at Lanier Senior High School for Boys in Macon; principal of Blackshear High School in Blackshear; teacher at Leslie J. Steele Elementary School in Decatur; principal of Tilson Elementary School in Decatur and completed his career as Elementary Instructional Coordinator for DeKalb County. He was a member of Phil Delta Kappa and the 4th District Rep. of the DEA Association for Supervision for and Curriculum Development. Albert Ross was a faithful and committed Christian, an active and loyal member of Belvedere UMC in Decatur for as long as he was able. He served on many boards and committees as called on by his church peers in addition to teaching Sunday school for over 40 years. He served his country during WWII in the Army Air Corps. Dr. Ross is predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Janet Cureton Ross. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Lynne and Gregg McRae and his granddaughter, Jennifer Lyn McRae; foster daughter and son-in-law, Debora and Allen Burger and grandsons, Max and Ben Burger. A visitation with the family will be held at 2 to 3:30 pm on Sunday, November 20, 2005 at Eternal Hills Funeral Home, Snellville, 770-972-3155. Dr. Ross will be taken to Ocilla, GA, where other services will be conducted. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, November 21, 2005 in Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Ocilla, GA, with Dr. Larry Paulk, officiating.
