Ann Vining Obituary

VINING, Ann

Ann Young Vining, 80, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on October 5, 2021.

Ann was born to the late Seaborn Charles Young and Julia Louellen Henderson in Rockmart, Georgia on September 14, 1941. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother Deltha East Young; sister Joyce Young Morrison; brothers Gerald Young, Dean Young, Don Young; nephew Kerry Young. She is survived by sister Jeanne Young Capes (Tillman) and her two sisters-in-law, Diane Young and Ellen Cox.

She was lovingly called "Aunt Annie" by nieces, nephews and others that claimed her as such. Those nieces and nephews include Paige Morrison Nichols, Kellie Young Smith, Melissa Young Deems, Katie Young Harris, Joshua Capes, Nicole Capes Graham, Don Ray Young, Jr. Aunt Annie has several great and great-great-nieces and nephews.

After graduating Rockmart High School in 1959, Ann set out to leave her hometown and moved to Atlanta to pursue nursing. She soon decided on the dental profession and worked as a hygienist for several years. In the late 80s, she poured her heart into a start-up fiber optic company, Micron Optics, where she found success and a closely knit work family.

Ann lived a life full of traveling the world, immersing herself in different cultures and created wonderful memories and lasting relationships all along the way. She was full of energy and always up for a new adventure.

Playing piano and singing came naturally to Ann. She always indulged her family by playing and singing her favorite hymns and Christmas songs at family gatherings. You always knew Annie was nearby because she was either singing or humming a tune.

Ann was a member of Northwest Presbyterian Church and served on various committees during the years she attended.

A celebration of life will be held at Northwest Presbyterian Church, 4300 Northside Drive, Atlanta, Georgia, on Sunday, October 17 at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northwest Presbyterian Church.

Ann and I shared the same Great Grandfather, William (Bill) Chambers, making us 2nd Cousins, born only a month apart. Although my family moved from Polk County in 1953 and totally lost contact with our relatives, I remember Ann as a very pretty and sweet girl. I have thought of her many times and so sorry to hear of her passing.

I have such fond memories of Ann when she was a teenager and she babysat for me back in 1957. She had a sparkling personality and her beauty was beyond words. Though the years have gone by and we didn’t keep in touch, I thought of her often. I am so sorry she has passed.

Sorry to hear about Ann Young. Ann was a friend ,we grew up together and attended the same church. Ann played the piano so beautiful. Her family and my family were best friends.

To Ann’s Family: I am so saddened to hear of Ann’s passing. We were best friends in earlier years and used to spend the night with each other very often. We had some fun times! My thoughts and prayers are with you all!
