Catherine TURNER Obituary

TURNER, Catherine REECY Catherine (Reecy) Marice McReynolds Turner of Milton/Alpharetta, GA went to sleep in death on Tuesday, May 20th, 2014. She awaits the resurrection by Jesus Christ, the only begotten son of His Father, Jehovah. She looks forward to eternal life on the new paradise earth as promised in the Bible. She was a strong advocate for God's kingdom for 43 years, even as her health declined. She was obedient to Jesus' command in speaking out about God's kingdom as the only real hope for mankind. She felt that soon the Lord's Prayer would be answered; "'Our Father in the heavens, let Your name be sanctified. Let Your kingdom come. Let Your will take place, as in heaven, also on earth.'" She was born in Birmingham, AL. on January 23, 1943 to Ivan and Alma Bayliss McReynolds. She graduated from Shades Valley High School and continued her education at Auburn University seeking to become an art major. After three years at Auburn she pursued her lifelong dream and became a Delta Stewardess. A year later she married James M (Jim) Turner. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Jim Turner and her children, Jeff Turner of Cabot, AR, Paige Turner and Leigh Turner of Alpharetta, GA. She was a wonderful example of being selfless and instilled this quality in the hearts of her children. She is also survived by her sisters Alice Forrester and Ivy Trovas of Santa Rosa Beach, FL. As well as cousins and relatives, many of whom reside in Birmingham, innumerable friends and many spiritual brothers and sisters from all over the world. Her memorial service will be held on May 31st at 1:30 PM, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 910 Mayfield Road, Alpharetta, GA 30009. All are invited. A reception will be held following the memorial service. Your personal expressions are appreciated and will be received at [email protected]. We were so saddened to hear of Sister Turner's death. I will always cherish fond memories of attending the book study in the Turner home in the 70's. My mom was always very fond of Reecy. Look forward to seeing them both again very soon.

Reecy sparkled with genuine beauty!

I always looked to Aunt Reecy as a wonderful example of what a good mother and wife should be. Her concern was for her family and fulfilling her dedication to Jehovah. She will be greatly missed and will always be remembered in our hearts. Our deep love to Jim, Jeff, Paige and Leigh, also Reecy's dear sisters Alice and Ivy. A special thank you and condolences to the LoPez family for being such special friends to the Turner family and being there for them always.

My Aunt Reecy lived the apostle Paul's words: "Pursue righteousness, godly devotion, faith, love, endurance, mildness of temper. Fight the fine fight of the faith, get a firm hold on the everlasting life for which you were called and you offered the fine public declaration in front of many witnesses.” (1 Timothy 6:11, 12) I will miss her. My prayer is to stand by Jim, Jeff, Paige, and Leigh as we all witness the miracle of the resurrection and welcome back Reecy, along with all those we've loved and lost. Love you all, Kristi

In the more than 50 years Reecy was in our family Reecy was one of the most beautiful people I have known. She always was kind, loving, generous and was always there to help you in your time of need. We are going to miss her greatly. I know Jim, Jeff, Paige and Leigh will find comfort in the many, many friends she had and how well they speak of her. I look forward to greeting her in the near future in that beautiful earthly Paradise that Jehovah thru his son Jesus Christ has promised us. Your loving sister and Aunt Linda

Turner home in Chicamauga GA

May 25, 2014

Dear Turner family,
I visited the Lafayette congo today after doing so 27 years ago and meeting your lovely family. Was very sad to hear the announcement that Reecy had passed.
Actually you opened your home (garage appt. -which I drove by today and took a pic} in Chicamauga when my husband Scott and I were moving from Houston Tx and we needed a homebase where I could stay while he visited the 5 congo's we had on our list. I'll never forget that 1st week in April of '87 when we got close to a foot of snow and we went out in the ministry because Jim was pioneering and wanted to get a good start! Needless to say everyone was home! Reecy stayed home and made us some soup to enjoy when we came in from that cold day. You were both very hospitable to us and we will always remember your kindness.
I read something in the April 22, 2004 Awake on HOPE that I'd like to share:
The dead are in the safest situation imaginable, like an infant protected within its mother's womb. Indeed, those resting in the grave are perfectly preserved within the limitless memory of Almighty God. And soon they will be brought back to life, entering a happy, welcoming world much the way a newborn is greeted by a loving, waiting family!
Can't wait to visit with her again one day soon! Sending much love to your family. Debbie & Scott Hegel Cleveland TN.

We will truly miss Reecy as she gave so much of her self and her Faith. How we appreciate her recent visit to encourage us about coping with our son's cancer.
