CANNON, Jr., Cecil

Cecil Leonidas Cannon, Jr., 87, of Atlanta passed away on April 14, 2025, at his home in Atlanta, GA.

Cecil was born March 17, 1938, in Brooklyn, NY to Nettie and Cecil Cannon, Sr. He grew up in Atlanta, Ga, attended North Fulton High School and served in the United States Army. His life was changed forever with the marriage to his wife Ann Bartlett for 43 years until her passing in 2010. He retired from The Georgia Power Company after 27 years and for 28 more years he conducted the train at Stone Mountain Park and loved his connection to people. Cecil was also committed to service driving charter buses and church vans with the biggest of hearts.

His strong faith led him to charter the course of Wieuca Road Baptist Church and onward to First Baptist Church Decatur. His love for Ann and his family was plentiful without exception. Cecil and Ann both developed a fondness for rescue greyhounds and adopted several. Cecil was fond of a "meat and three"`at Matthews Cafeteria in Tucker and a "What'll Ya Have?" hot dog at the Varsity.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, Nettie and Cecil Cannon, Sr.; his wife Ann Bartlett Cannon; and his sister, Farris Horak.

Cecil is survived by his son, Bain Cannon; daughter, Casey and her husband, Caldwell Smith; granddaughter, Millie Smith; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Cecil will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at H.M. Patterson & Son-Ogelthorpe Hill followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. A private burial will follow. Arrangements are by H.M. Patterson & Son-Oglethorpe Hill.
